Asst. Prof. Dr. Voraprapa Nakavachara

Assistant to the President for Global Engagement, Chulalongkorn University

Biography:

Asst. Prof. Dr. Voraprapa is currently the Assistant to the President for Global Engagement at Chulalongkorn University. She also teaches “Digital and Innovative Economy” at the Faculty of Economics, Chulalongkorn University. Her role as the the Assistant to the President for Global Engagement is to oversee the Office of the International Affairs and Global Network.

Her responsibility is to support Chulalongkorn University’s mission to create “innovations for society” at the international level under three areas, namely, (i) Future Leaders, (ii) Impactful Research and Innovation, and (iii) Sustainability. Her academic work focuses on how technology changes our economy and the way we think in economics and business.

Her recent projects include (i) quantifying the impact of technology on the labor market, (ii) analyzing the behaviors of blockchain-based digital assets, and (iii) estimating the economic impact of e-commerce. Voraprapa has published articles in internationally accepted journals such as The Economic Journal and Journal of Asian Economics. Besides academic research, she also regularly writes op-ed articles in local newspapers.

Voraprapa received a Ph.D. in Economics from University of Southern California. She also holds a Master’s degree in Applied Economics from University of Michigan (Ann Arbor) and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering (Honors) from Chulalongkorn University. Voraprapa has worked several years in private sector in both the United States and Thailand prior to joining Chulalongkorn University.
