Online seminar on “Horizon Europe”
On Wednesday, August 11, 2021, the Division of Global Research and Innovation Promotion, a new division of the Office of International Affairs and Global Network (OIA) at Chulalongkorn University whose responsibility is to support international collaboration between Chula academic staff and researchers, and international research organizations, organized an online seminar on “Horizon Europe”. The seminar commenced with a welcoming speech by Associate Professor Dr. Natcha Thawesaengskulthai, Vice President for Strategic Planning, Innovation and Global Engagement. This online event received much attention from and was participated by academic staff and researchers from various Faculties in Chulalongkorn University, its partner universities and research organizations, both domestic and international.
This online seminar aims to provide the information about the ninth European Union (EU) framework programme for research and innovation, Horizon Europe, which is a successor to the latest EU framework programme for research and innovation, Horizon 2020 (the eighth European Union framework programme). Horizon Europe has a budget of approximately € 95.5 billion to spend from 2021-2027. This programme is one of the most important funding programmes in the world.
This seminar was honoured by Dr. Pattharaporn Suntharasaj, Director of the Global Research and Innovation Promotion Division, the OIA and National NCP Coordinator-Thailand for Horizon 2020, Dr. Manop Sittidech, Minister Counsellor for Science and Technology, the Office of Science and Technology in the Royal Thai Embassy in Brussels, Dr. Jenny Lind Elmaco, Regional Coordinator, EURAXESS Worldwide, and Dr. Keerati Siriyan, the Global Research and Innovation Promotion Division, who provided the information about the Horizon Europe programme, the Horizon Europe structure, the relationship between Thailand and Horizon 2020 and the future opportunities for Horizon Europe as well as its opening calls for proposals.
The seminar was concluded with a Q&A session to give the opportunity to the attendees to ask questions about the Horizon Europe programme.
