Academic Presentations Accompanying the MoU Signing Ceremony between the National Institute for Physiological Sciences (NIPS) and Chulalongkorn University
On May 3rd, 2023, the Academic Presentations by a lecturer of Chulalongkorn University and that of the National Institute for Physiological Sciences (NIPS) were organized to accompany the MoU Signing Ceremony between Chulalongkorn University and NIPS in Japan, at the Meeting Room 202, Chamchuri 4 Building.
The event commenced with the warm welcoming remarks and an introduction to Chulalongkorn University by Assoc. Prof. Pannee Cheewinsiriwat, Ph.D., Assistant Vice President for Research Affairs. Following Assoc. Prof. Pannee’s introduction, Prof. Junichi Nabekura, M.D., Ph.D., Director General of NIPS, delivered an engaging introduction to the Institute, highlighting its significant contributions to physiological research.
Throughout his session, Prof. Yoshihiro Kubo, M.D., Ph.D., Vice Director General of NIPS, presented a research study entitled “A Novel Pathophysiological Mechanism of the GIRK Channelopathy.” Assoc. Prof. Thongchai Sooksawate, Ph.D., lecturer of the Department of Pharmacology and Physiology of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chulalongkorn University, gave a presentation entitled “Neural Mechanisms of Retrospective Fear; Revisiting James-Lange Theory of Emotion with Optogenetics in Mice.” After both presentations, Prof. Bundit Eua-arporn, Ph.D., President of Chulalongkorn University and Director General Junichi Nabekura, M.D., Ph.D., signed the MoU to enhance academic collaborations between the two academic institutions.
The event was also attended by the representatives of the Faculties, School and Center; namely Assoc. Prof. Supakarn Chamni, Ph.D., Associate Dean for Graduate Affairs and Lifelong Learning of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences; Assoc. Prof. Chatchawan Chaisuekul, Ph.D., Head of the Department of Biology, and Assoc. Prof. Pongtharin Lotrakul, Ph.D., Chair of the Biological Science Program of the Faculty of Science; Asst. Prof. Sukanya Jaroenporn, Ph.D., Director of the Interdisciplinary Program in Physiology of the Graduate School; Prof. Suchinda Malaivijitnond, Ph.D., Director, and Dr. Anusorn Pansook, Managing Director of the National Primate Research Center of Thailand; Dr. Ram Piyaket, Director, and Mr. Dispol Sivaratanatamrong, International Coordinator of the Office of International Affairs and Global Network.
