Vitalizing UN-Chula Partnerships (Receiving UNESCAP Delegation)
On May 15, 2024, the Office of International Affairs and Global Network (OIA) welcomed a delegation from the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP) at Chulalongkorn University.
Based on the successful collaboration for the APRU SDG Education for Global Citizenship (APRU SDG4GC) pilot program, the creation of additional learning opportunities and coaching mechanisms for students and youth though UN platforms were discussed at the meeting. The recruitment of student representatives to participate in the Southeast Asia Multi-Stakeholder Forum in December 2024 was also discussed.
On July 24, 2024, the Global Networking and Engagement Division of OIA and UN ESCAP will co-organize the UN Global Seminar – “SDGs For Global Citizenship: A Global Workshop on Ensuring Access to Sustainable, Clean, and Modern Energy.” The seminar aims to empower student participants to gain knowledge and understanding of the SDGs and encourage them to collaboratively design and develop innovative solutions to global challenges.
The UN ESCAP delegation was headed by Mr. Ruhimat Soerakoesoemah, Head of the Subregional Office for South-East Asia, UN ESCAP, joined by Ms. Madelyn Almazora, Ms. Emelie Pettersson, and Ms. Srimeena Uapatikul. The OIA was represented by Ms. Michiko Yoshida, Director of Global Networking and Engagement Division, joined by her team, Mr. Supavij Vejpisitpakorn, Ms. Darunee Sukanan, Mr. Parishan Shrestha, and Mr. Suparkrit Samathammachack.
