AUA-IITB Overseas Study Programme 2022 – Artificial Intelligence in Education

Indian Institute of Technology Bombay and the AUA Secretariat are happy to announce that the first AUA Program for the year 2022-2023 is calling for nomination! Indian Institute of Technology will host “AUA-IITB Overseas Study Programme 2022 – Artificial Intelligence in Education” from May 23rd (Mon) to June 3rd (Fri), 2022. 

Brief Introduction of the Course (Provided by IIT Bombay)

Artificial Intelligence has found its way today into a variety of domains through its applications. Education is one such domain. With the arrival of digital learning technologies, we are capturing data at an unprecedented volume, and this allows us to harness this data to cater to the requirements of the prime stakeholder of education the learner. Understanding the learners’ data and making interpretations from it using novel AI techniques require an adequate interdisciplinary understanding of this field. At IIT Bombay we have one of the few centers in the country dedicated solely to this aim. Our goal is to improve the current state of education which is rapidly shifting towards online platforms for learning.

This course will provide an overview of how artificial intelligence techniques and machine learning algorithms can be applied to data from the educational domain to provide better teaching-learning experiences. The course will cover how to collect data from different learning environments, how to analyze this data, and apply suitable types of analytics to make meaningful interpretations. The course will allow the learners to get familiar with real-life educational data. The course will provide the participants with strong exposure to the current state of AI applications on educational data and provide them with a foundation for a future in this field should they choose to pursue it.

Program: AUA-IITB Overseas Study Programme 2022 – Artificial Intelligence in Education

Host: Indian Institute of Technology Bombay

Program Date and Time: 23 May – 3 June 2022 Online Sessions Daily (10:30-12:00 and 13:00-14:30, Indian Standard Time, UTC+5:30)

Expected Outcomes: The learners will be:

  • Able to understand how to collect data from learning environments, analyse it, extract the features and apply the same in respective learning environments;
  • Able to understand the basic concepts of ML algorithms;
  • Able to get familiarized with some of the ML tools;
  • Able to apply analytics such as descriptive, diagnostic, predictive and prescriptive analytics on data from learning environments.

Eligible Candidates: Undergraduate and postgraduate students (Masters and Ph.D.) of any field of study

Number of Candidates: Each AUA member institutions to nominate 2 students, and up to 2 students on waiting list. 

Nomination Process: Each member university may select 2+2 attendees first, and send the list of candidates and the nomination form (attached in the email) by Monday, May 16 to Ms. Tanvi Mehta at tanvi.mehta@iitb.ac.in
