Staff mobility refers to university teaching and non-teaching (supporting) staff member who transfer to another university/institution outside their own country in order to teach, research or training for a limited time. Under an existing MOU or network.
Types of staff mobility
- To teach at a partner university
- To participate international staff weeks at a partner university
- Job shadowing at a partner university
Duration
The duration of mobility can be from a few days (5 days as a minimum) to a longer period of time, decided by the two parties involved.
Financing & Funding
As a general rule, the home university/institution pays for travel, accommodation and the exchanged person’s salary during the visit. However, the cost for travel can be paid by host institution if funding/partial funding is available.
For example, the most common type of funding used for staff mobility is Erasmus+, The Erasmus+ staff mobility grant is an EU-funded grant that helps finance EU staff teaching and training mobility between Erasmus+ partner institutions.
Preparation
For incoming staff mobility
- Check the list of Chula’s current partner universities related to staff mobility. Ex. Erasmus+ bilateral Agreements.
- Deadline for the partner university to provide the list of selected at least 3 months before the start of the mobility. [For Staff Mobility for Teaching, it might take a bit longer]
- Chula Semester System: Fall semester: from August to December / Spring semester: from January to May.
For outgoing staff mobility
- Contact OIA Chula at least 3 months before your plan to start of the mobility. [for Staff Mobility for Teaching, it might take a bit longer]
- Check the list of Chula’s current partner universities related to staff mobility. Ex. Erasmus+ bilateral Agreements.
