APEC University Leaders’ Forum 2022 and Preparation for the Next Pandemic
The APEC University Leaders’ Forum 2022 (AULF), held on Wednesday, November 16th, 2022, was co-hosted by Chulalongkorn University and the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU), under the main theme, “Preventing the Next Pandemic – the Global Partnership Agenda for Governments, Business and Research Universities”.
The event was honored by the keynote speech by His Excellency General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand at the opening ceremony. It was followed by Chancellor Gene D. Block, a special plenary address by Chancellor Gene D. Block of the University of California at Los Angeles, who engaged the audience with his view on global partnership in handling and preventing pandemics.
The Forum was divided into three main sessions, namely, “Partnering on Biomedical Research”, “Partnering on Effective Socio-cultural Strategies” and “Partnering on Combatting the Infodemic”. The panelists explored ways to foster collaborative efforts in researching, strategy-setting, and handling misinformation. The event was attended by business leaders, policy makers, and university administrators from the APRU members.
