MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships 2023: European Postdoctoral Fellowships
The MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships 2023 programme is under Horizon Europe, a new European Union (EU)’s research and innovation framework programme with the biggest budget of around € 95.5 billion to spend over 2021-2027, organized by the European Commission. This funding programme aims to support the career perspectives and excellence of postdoctoral researchers who wish to carry out their research activities abroad, acquire new skills and develop their careers.
There are 2 types of Postdoctoral Fellowships, which are
- European Postdoctoral Fellowships, and
- Global Postdoctoral Fellowships.
On this page, we focus only on the European Postdoctoral Fellowship as open to researchers moving within Europe or coming to Europe from another part of the world to pursue their research careers. These fellowships will take place in an EU Member State or Horizon Europe Associated Country.

Fund: The EU provides support for the recruited researcher in the form of
- a living allowance
- a mobility allowance
- if applicable, family, long-term leave and special needs allowances
In addition, funding is provided for
- research, training and networking activities
- management and indirect costs

Duration: 12 – 24 months
Eligibility: To apply for this call, applicants
- can be any nationality.
- should have a PhD degree at the time of the deadline for applications.
- must have a maximum of 8 years of full-time research experience in research, from the date of the award of their PhD degree.
- should comply with the Mobility Rule: applicants must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the country of the beneficiary for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately before the call deadline
- must submit an application together with a host organisation, which can be a university, research institution, business, SME or other organisation based in an EU Member State or Horizon Europe Associated Country.

Applicants need to write an application jointly with their chosen host organisation and submit it via the Funding and Tender Opportunities Portal of the call.
