International Student Orientation for the Academic Year 2024
On August 2nd, 2024, the Office of International Affairs and Global Network organized the International Students Orientation for the Academic Year 2024 in Room 212, Mahitaladhibesra Building. This event was a success as present over 300 international students were present and more joined online.
The program provided new international students with a warm welcome and invaluable resources to ensure their successful and fulfilling academic journey. Prof. Dr. Wilert Puriwat, Acting President of Chulalongkorn University, presided over the event and delivered welcoming and opening remarks.
Ms. Sukalin Wanakasemsan, Director of the Division of Global Academic Affairs, Office of International Affairs and Global Network, introduced the participants to CU services, benefits, facilities, visa information, and more.
The orientation also featured informative sessions, including an introduction to the CU NEX application by Ms. Taniya Vitavaskarnvej, President of the CU NEX Club, and Mr. Pakorn Ittichanthakit, Event Member of the CU NEX Club. The Unibuddy Project was presented by Mr. Yingyilong Hu, Chula Unibuddy Ambassador. Additionally, Ms. Areeyarose Williams and Mr. Phuri Pirunsuntorn, representative Chulalongkorn’s International Student Affairs (CU ISA) presented a wide range of clubs and extracurricular activities available on the campus.
The highlight of the on-site event was the session “How to Adjust to Thai Culture, Live Harmoniously in a Diverse Culture, and Smoothly Settle in Thailand to Prevent Culture Shock,” by Mr. Jonas Anderson, a famous singer from Sweden, who has lived in Thailand for many decades. And his talk was co-sponsored by the Thailand Foundation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
