In an era that demands both innovation and collaboration across disciplines, the 2025 AUA Academic Conference and Workshops on “SAFE Reproductive Health” emerges as a beacon of knowledge and progress in the field of reproductive health. Hosted by the School of Global Health, Faculty of Medicine, together with the Office of International Affairs and Global Network, Chulalongkorn University, this pioneering event is set to explore the multifaceted aspects of reproductive health, underlining the importance of comprehensive healthcare for sustainable societal development.
1. Conference Theme
The “SAFE Reproductive Health” conference aims to bring together a diverse group of professionals and academics from AUA universities and beyond to explore
the transformative role of reproductive health in achieving sustainable development. Centered around the concept of SAFE—Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, Access to Comprehensive Healthcare, Freedom from Violence, and Equality, as well as Sustainability, Accessibility, Freedom, and Equity—the event will foster multidisciplinary collaboration and cross-cultural exchanges to address global reproductive health challenges. This conference also underscores the pivotal role of reproductive health in advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
2. Participation
We encourage submissions from faculty members, students, policymakers, professionals, and academics in relevant practices who are open-minded and ready to
explore reproductive health. We particularly welcome contributions addressing the needs of displaced people and marginalized populations, ensuring their perspectives and challenges are integral to the discussions. This is a unique opportunity for AUA members and non-member participants alike to contribute to the global dialogue on reproductive health and promote equitable solutions for all communities.
3. Call for Abstracts
We invite you to submit your abstracts in relation to the following themes. There are two categories of calls for abstracts as below, kindly find the guiding information for each category. All submissions must be written in English language and be sent via email to jiayu.l@chula.ac.th.
- Reproductive Life Planning: This theme seeks abstracts addressing the importance of reproductive life planning, outline its key components, and explore strategies for integrating these services into sexual and reproductive health care.
- Safe Pregnancy and Childbirth: This theme seeks abstracts addressing the insights and strategies to ensure safe pregnancy outcomes and childbirth experiences, focusing on both maternal and neonatal health.
- Reproductive Cancers: This theme seeks abstracts addressing the prevention, early detection, and treatment of cancers affecting the reproductive system.
- AI and Women Health: This theme seeks abstracts addressing the intersection of technology and healthcare, showcasing how artificial intelligence and digital tools are transforming reproductive health services, from patient care to data management.
- Violence Against Women: This theme seeks abstracts addressing the prevalence, impact, and prevention of violence against women globally. We welcome research that highlights innovative strategies, challenges, and opportunities for advancing women’s safety, health, and empowerment in diverse cultural and socioeconomic contexts.
- Sexual and Reproductive Health challenges in Asia: This theme seeks abstracts addressing the diverse challenges faced in sexual and reproductive health across Asia. Topics may include barriers to access, cultural and socioeconomic factors, adolescent reproductive health, contraception, maternal health, and policy implications.
- Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and HIV/AIDS: A critical discussion on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases and
HIV/AIDS, highlighting the latest advancements and challenges in managing these health issues.
a. Category I: Session/Workshop Speakers
– Please send your presentation title, abstract (maximum 250 words), CV (less than 2 pages) and brief bio (maximum 200 words). The organizer will provide 3-night
accommodation costs for the selected speakers from AUA member universities. (Further information will be provided to the selected speakers in January 2025).
b. Category II: Poster presentation
– We invite you to submit abstracts of original research papers, working papers, published, unpublished works, that align with the conference themes.
– Please submit your research title, abstract (less than 350 words), keywords (no more than five), and CV (less than 2 pages), a brief bio (maximum 200 words) and the information of the co-author(s) (if applicable) and presenter(s).
– All accepted abstracts are eligible for scientific abstract competition. The winners will get certificates, prize awards, and registration fee waivers.
Poster Presentation Guidelines (for the selected presenters)
- The poster layout dimensions for a portrait format are A0 size which is 118.9 cm in height and 84.1 cm in width.
- Indicate the presenting author if different from the first author.
- At the top of your poster, state the title and authors in bold letters that are easy to read.
- Disclose your potential conflicts of interest.
- The text and the illustrations should be readable from a distance of 2 meters
- The authors are only required to be present during the poster session to discuss their posters with others.
- All posters will be displayed throughout the conference.
4. Important Dates
- Deadline for abstract submission: December 20, 2024
- Notification of acceptance: January 10, 2025
5. Registration Fees
- International participants: Early Bird: 4000 THB; Standard: 4500 THB
- Thai participants: Early Bird: 2000 THB; Standard: 2500 THB
- Early bird registration deadline: January 31, 2025
- All AUA participants – selected session speakers, poster presenters, and audience
members, are fully waived of registration fees.
