The ceremony was also attended by Associate Professor Dr. Palanee Ammaranond, Vice President for International Affairs and Global Network and Associate Professor, Dr. Thanapan Laiprakobsup, Deputy Executive Director of ASEAN University Network. Chula AUN Summer Camp 2025 was held from 21 June to 4 July 2025 at Chulalongkorn University and at Sichang Island in Chonburi province. Over the course of two weeks, 40 students from 9 ASEAN countries, representing 25 universities in the ASEAN University Network (AUN), participated in a variety of activities designed to provide knowledge and hands-on experience while fostering creativity and teamwork skills.
During the first week, the participants traveled to Sichang Island in Chonburi, where they engaged in learning about marine environment, including municipal waste management, terrestrial and marine ecosystems, and local model for sustainable tourism. They also had the opportunity to visit the Chonlathassathan Marine Museum, located within the Phra Chudhadhuj Ratchasthan Palace, the only royal palace in Thailand situated on an island.
For the second week, the program organized a range of activities to promote learning about Thai arts and culture through workshops at Chulalongkorn University, as well as visits to significant cultural sites around Bangkok. The camp also hosted a special keynote and panel discussion event, ‘World Peace Talk’, in which Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva, former Prime Minister of Thailand and Advisor to the World Peace Working Group (Thailand), graciously delivered a keynote address. These activities not only allowed students to develop specialized skills but also served as a bridge for building meaningful friendships, fostering cross-cultural understanding, and paving them towards becoming global citizens with awareness and respect for diversity.
The Chula AUN Summer Camp 2025 has been marked as a milestone reflecting powerful collaboration between Chulalongkorn University, led by Office of International Affairs and Global Network, ASEAN University Network (AUN), Aquatic Resources Research Institute, and Office of Art and Culture, to foster cross-cultural learning and strengthen friendship among students in the ASEAN region.
