Welcome University of Leicester to Chulalongkorn University to foster Academic Synergy

On 22nd July 2025, Assoc. Prof. Palanee Ammaranond, Ph.D., Vice President warmly welcomed Professor Nishan Canagarajah, Ph.D., President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Leicester at Meeting Room 203 on the 2ndFloor of the Chamchuri 4 Building.
The event was also attended by Assoc. Prof. Suradech Chotiudompant, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Arts; Assoc. Prof. Pasuree Luesakul, Ph.D., Associate Dean for International Affairs, Faculty of Arts; Assoc. Prof. Naricha Chirakalwasan, M.D., Associate Dean for International Affairs, Faculty of Medicine; Asst. Prof. Jate Ratanachina, M.D., Ph.D., Lecturer of the Faculty of Medicine; and Asst. Prof. Panita Surachaikulwattana, Ph.D., Lecturer and a Member of the Committee of the Office of International Affairs, Chulalongkorn Business School.
The University of Leicester delegation included Professor Thompson Robinson, M.D., Pro Vice-Chancellor, Head of the College of Life Science and Dean of Medicine; Professor Sarina Wakefield, Ph.D., Dean of International, College of Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities; Professor James Fitchett, Ph.D., Deputy Head of the College of Business and therepresentatives of The British Embassy in Bangkok and British Council Thailand.
Professor Canagarajah highlighted the comprehensiveness of the University of Leicester in fostering academic and inclusive environment for international students across several disciplines. He also addressed the university’s interest in developing student exchange programs with Chulalongkorn University in a wide range of areas, including arts and languages, medicines, science, and business. The meeting continued with group discussions, enabling representatives ofeach discipline to have the most effective and extensive discussion.
The meeting concluded with the exchange of tokens between the host and the guest, emphasizing the promising opportunity for an MoU signing between the two universities to implement academic collaboration, broaden educational advancement and complement the academic and research opportunity for their students and staff.
