[UN Global Seminar] Empowering Global Citizenship: Digital Transformation and Inclusion for Sustainable Development

Chulalongkorn University and the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP)’s Sub-regional Office for Southeast Asia co-organized a global workshop entitled Empowering Global Citizenship: Digital Transformation and Inclusion for Sustainable Development on July 25, 2025, at the United Nations Conference Centre, Bangkok. Held as part of the APRU SDG Education for Global Citizenship program*1, this hybrid workshop explored the themes of digital transformation and inclusivity, providing a platform for experts and youths across the globe to exchange ideas, foster innovation, and contribute to more inclusive digital futures.
Representing Chulalongkorn University, Assoc. Prof. Manoj Lohatepanont, Sc.D., Vice President, delivered opening remarks for the event, emphasizing the importance of creating a shared vision of an inclusive digital future. He also reminded the participants that the youths are not only beneficiaries but also key drivers of digital transformation, and their creativity as well as their leadership are vital in bridging digital divides and ensuring that no one is left behind.
Asst. Prof. Tewarit Sarachana, MT, Ph.D., Assistant to the President for International Affairs and Global Network and EdPEx, Ms. Michiko Yoshida, Director of Global Networking and Engagement, represented the Office of International Affairs and Global Network at the workshop, which welcomed some 110 participants, both onsite and online. The participants represented 23 countries, 18 universities across Asia Pacific, including 56 students, faculty, and staff members from Chulalongkorn University.
