Prof. Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University and Associate Prof. Dr. Palanee Ammaranond, Vice President for International Affairs and Global Network, represented Chulalongkorn University at the 16th ASEAN University Network (AUN) Rectors’ Meeting and the 40th AUN Board of Trustees (AUN-BOT) Meeting, held on 24–25 July 2025 at the Diamond Hotel in Manila, the Philippines.
Co-hosted by De La Salle University and the University of the Philippines, the high-level gatherings brought together Presidents, Rectors, Vice Chancellors, and leaders from AUN member universities and the ASEAN Secretariat to deepen regional collaboration and shape the future of higher education in Southeast Asia.
Under the theme “From Networks to Impact: The Future of Global Higher Education,” this year’s AUN Rectors’ Meeting focused on harnessing the power of multilateral partnerships to drive transformational change in education, research, and societal engagement.
The 40th AUN-BOT Meeting, held in conjunction with the Rectors’ Meeting, reviewed the network’s key milestones and strategic direction. Among the notable outcomes were the endorsement of the Third Version of the AUN Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) Framework and Assessors, which will serve as a vital tool for quality enhancement and institutional development across ASEAN universities, and the establishment of the ASEAN University Network for Agriculture and Food Security (AUN-AFS), a new sub-network dedicated to advancing knowledge and innovation in agriculture and food systems for regional sustainability.
Through its active contributions and strategic engagement, Chulalongkorn University continues to play a pivotal role in advancing AUN’s mission and reinforcing ASEAN higher education as a driver of regional integration, academic excellence, and sustainable development.
The meetings align closely with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, while also supporting Chulalongkorn University’s strategic pillars of International Growth, Impactful Growth, and Integrated Growth.
