Chulalongkorn University Joins the 11th AUN-CA Meeting at Guizhou University, Highlighting Innovation and Cultural Integration
Tradition and culture never fades away, but they are preserved and reimagined through innovative technologies and creativity of younger generations, ensuring their continued relevance and vitality.
Chulalongkorn University, represented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pattara Komkam, Head of the Music Department, the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, Asst. Prof. Soamshine Boonyananta, Ph.D., Head of the Division of Art, the Faculty of Education, and Ms. Phimpirada Prompakdee, representative from the Office of International Affairs and Global Network, participated in the 11th ASEAN+3 University Network on Culture and the Arts (AUN-CA) Policy Development Meeting, the Crosslight Learning Session, the Digital Art Exhibition, and the Dialogues Research Forum, held from 25th – 27th July 2025 at Guizhou University in Guiyang, Guizhou, the People’s Republic of China.
During the meeting, the representatives from participating universities engaged in the Crosslight Learning Session and Dialogues Research Forum, which featured four plenary sessions, exploring how cultural heritage can be reinterpreted and integrated in an era of technological advancement. The sessions covered the following key themes:
- Art Education Models in the Context of AI,
- The Path of Cultural and Artistic Integration among ASEAN Countries and China, Japan, and Korea,
- Mutual Learning Between Inheritance and Innovative Development of Intangible Cultural Heritage, and
- Digital Civilization and New Forms of Art.
In addition, Chulalongkorn University’s delegates took part in the Dialogues Research Forum, a platform created to celebrate and share outstanding academic papers by students and educators from the ASEAN countries. The forum encouraged lively exchange of ideas and offered a collaborative space for discussions around ongoing creative and research works. This year, the forum was organized under two thematic tracks:
- Cultural Expression, Theater, and Identity, and
- Heritage Innovation, Community Development, and Policy.
On the second day, the Policy Development Meeting was held, to provide the opportunity for all AUN-CA representatives to present their institutions’ initiatives toward cultural policy formulation. The aim was to promote curriculum development that integrates cultural and traditional dimensions.
At the AUN-CA Meeting, Chulalongkorn University shared its strategic direction with a strong focus on student-centered development. The University’s strategies include Impactful Growth and International Growth, emphasizing the promotion of international cultural and artistic exchange, as well as the creation of inclusive spaces for cultural learning. These efforts align closely with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
