💓 Exclusive for Chula’s Full-Time Faculty Members in Humanities and Social Sciences
1. Overview
This program offers faculty members in the humanities and social sciences the opportunity to undertake 10 months of independent research at Harvard University. The proposed research project should be related to the humanities with an emphasis on culture.
2. Eligibility
- A full-time faculty member working at Chulalongkorn University for at least 3 years.
- Fields of research in the humanities and social sciences
- Previous recipients of a Visiting Scholar fellowship from HYI are not eligible to reapply
3. Coverage of the Scholarship
- Round trip economy class airfare
- A stipend of US $7,725 per month for 10-month residence
- Health Insurance up to the amount of $5,500
- Funding (up to $5,000) for hiring a research assistant or an editor, and for participating in academic conferences or/and making brief research trips in North America
4. Field of Research
- Anthropology – Literature
- Archaeology – Media and Film Studies
- Area and International Studies – Philosophy
- Art and Architectural History – Politics
- History (including economic and legal history) – Study of Religion
- Sociology – Linguistics
- Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies
Note: Scholars in the fields of Economics, Education, Geography, Law, Psychology, and Public Administration may be considered, but must check with the Institute before submitting applications.

Those with complete applications will be invited to an online interview with the committee on the second week of September. The confirmed date and time will be soon announced.
6. List of Required Documents
- Visiting scholars program application form
- Research Plan (3-5 pages, in English)
- Most updated CV
- Supervisor Acknowledgement Form
- 3 Recommendation Letters, in English
- One of which must be from the applicants’ adviser or familiar with their scholarly work.
- The letter must not be submitted by applicant, but should be sent directly to the OIA officer who is responsible for nomination.
- The letters can be sent after an interview, until September 28th, 2025, 23:59 hrs. (BKK Time)
