The Chairman of the Chulalongkorn University Council Extends an Invitation to Their Majesties the King and the Queen of Bhutan to Visit Chulalongkorn University
The Chulalongkorn University delegates, led by Prof. Dr. Surakiart Sathirathai, Chairman of the Chulalongkorn University Council, and Prof. Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University, visited the Kingdom of Bhutan from 29th to 31st July 2025.
During the visit, the Chula delegation was granted to have a royal audience with Her Majesty Queen Jetsun Pema at the royal audience. Prof. Dr. Surakiart Sathirathai and Prof. Dr. Wilert Puriwat had the change to extend an invitation for Their Majesties the King and the Queen of Bhutan to graciously visit Chulalongkorn University when they are on a visit to Thailand in December. Chulalongkorn University will take it as their honor to present a doctoral degree (honoris causa) to Their Majesties on this special occasion.
At the meeting with the Chula delegates, Her Majesty Queen Jetsun Pema graciously offered her recommendation on fostering comprehensive collaborations in academics, research and innovation between Chulalongkorn University and universities in Bhutan, aiming at generating positive economic and social impacts on both sides. On this occasion, H.E. Mr. Dasho Tshering Tobgay, Prime Minister of Bhutan, and Mr. Chewang Rinzin, the Vice Chancellor of the Royal University Bhutan, also welcomed the delegation and discussed the promising opportunities to promote educational collaboration between the two countries.
This visit to the Kingdom of Bhutan marks a significant milestone in Chulalongkorn University’s networking with international universities worldwide to foster academic collaboration with them.
