Chulalongkorn University and Toyota Technological Institute Explore Collaborative Summer School to Foster Global Education and Innovation
On August 18th – 19th, 2025, Chulalongkorn University, led by Prof. Wilert Puriwat, Ph.D., President, together with Assoc. Prof. Palanee Ammaranond, Ph.D., Vice President, and Asst. Prof. Tewarit Sarachana, MT, Ph.D., Assistant to the President for International Affairs and Global Network, along with deans and faculty-level executives, warmly welcomed representatives from the Toyota Technological Institute (TTI), Japan. The delegation, headed by Mr. Satoru Nakagawa, Managing Director of the Toyota School Foundation, and Prof. Dr. Itaru Kamiya from the Quantum Interface Laboratory, visited Chulalongkorn to explore the development of a joint summer program in collaboration with the University’s faculties and research institutes.
The visit began with discussions at the Faculty of Engineering, where Assoc. Prof. Witaya Wannasuphoprasit, Ph.D., Dean, and his team presented the International School of Engineering (ISE) and highlighted Chulalongkorn’s pioneering research in automotive engineering and mobility technology.
The TTI delegation then met with Prof. Pranat Photiyarat, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Science, who showcased the Chulalongkorn University Museum of Natural History and introduced the Faculty’s international programs, while also exploring opportunities for TTI to join the upcoming AUN Summer Camp aimed at promoting cross-cultural engagement among ASEAN and international students.
In the evening of August 18th, Prof. Wilert hosted a welcoming dinner in honor of the delegation, reinforcing the long-standing academic partnership and shared vision of advancing global education and research.

On the following day, the delegation continued academic exchanges with a visit to the Petroleum and Petrochemical College, led by Dean Prof. Pramoch Rangsunvigit, Ph.D., where discussions focused on tailoring the summer program to align with TTI students’ academic and research interests.

The visit also included a cultural experience at the Chulalongkorn University Museum and a tour of the International House (iHouse), underscoring Chulalongkorn’s commitment to providing a supportive environment for international students and scholars.

Throughout the two-day visit, both institutions reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening academic exchange and international cooperation. The discussions laid the groundwork for a customized summer school that integrates Chulalongkorn University’s academic excellence and Thailand’s cultural richness with TTI’s expertise in technology and innovation. This initiative reflects Chulalongkorn University’s strategies for International Growth, Intellectual Growth, and Integrated Growth, while contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
