Chulalongkorn University Explores Academic Collaboration and Exchange Programs with Kyushu University
On August 27th, 2025, Assoc. Prof. Palanee Ammaranond, Ph.D., Vice President for International Affairs and Global Network, assigned Ms. Apisara Thongpoka, International Cooperation Officer, and Mr. Pokkamol Phijitsiri, Academic Coordinator (Outbound Exchange) to welcome Mr. Shotaro Konishi, the representative from the International Affairs Department, International Student Exchange Division in the Study Abroad Section, Kyushu University, Japan. The event took place at the OIA Office, 18th Floor, Chaloem Rajakumari 60 Building.
The meeting was aimed at strengthening academic collaboration and promoting upcoming international engagement activities, particularly Kyushu University’s Virtual Study Abroad Fair scheduled for November 2025, while also providing a comprehensive introduction to the two prestigious universities as the first step toward future collaboration.
During the meeting, Mr. Konishi provided an overview of Kyushu University, Japan’s third-largest university, located in Fukuoka. Currently, the university hosts over 2,000 international students, and several of its students have participated in exchange programs with Chulalongkorn University in recent years.
At Kyushu University, popular programs among international students include the Japan in Today’s World Program and the Japanese Language and Culture Course (JLCC). The Japan in Today’s World Program enables international students to experience the Japanese way of life by staying with Japanese host families and participating in immersive cultural activities. For those seeking intensive study of the Japanese language and culture, Mr. Konishi recommended the Japanese Language and Culture Course (JLCC), in which classes are primarily conducted in Japanese.
In addition to the overview session, the representatives from Chulalongkorn University engaged in a dialogue aimed at identifying potential collaborative opportunities that would further enhance academic mobility, mutual exchange programs, and long-term institutional partnerships between the two universities.
This meeting marked a valuable step forward in fostering stronger academic ties between Chulalongkorn University and Kyushu University, both of which expressed their shared interest in deepening collaboration through future initiatives and joint academic activities. Chulalongkorn University’s active role is also a clear reflection of its strategic vision of ‘Growing in All Directions, with Students at the Center,’ emphasizing International Growth through global partnerships and cross-cultural collaboration, Integrated Growth by blending academic knowledge with real-world experiences, and Impactful Growth by empowering students to create positive change for communities and the world.
