Chulalongkorn University Expanding Collaboration with Kanazawa University
On 12th September 2025, Assoc. Prof. Palanee Ammaranond, Ph.D., Vice President, together with the representatives of the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Science, welcomed the delegation from Kanazawa University in Japan led by President Prof. Takashi Wada, President of the University at Meeting Room 1801, 18th Floor, Chaloem Rajakumari 60 Building.
The Kanazawa University delegation included Prof. Takafumi Seto, Advisor to the President and Dean of the Graduate School of Natural Sciences and Technology; Ms. Toshi Fukuda, Director of the International Student Exchange Division; and Ms. Kamonrat Shenwirattanapith from the Kanazawa University Bangkok Office.
Assoc. Prof. Palanee greeted the guests and introduced them to the Chula representatives, bringing them to the attention that Chulalongkorn University provides scholarships for international students and is open to collaboration on scholarship opportunities with Kanazawa University. Assoc. Prof. Sehanat Prasongsuk, Ph.D., Deputy Dean, and Dr. Wuttichai Reainthippayasakul, Assistant to the Dean for Academic, and Student Affairs at the Faculty of Science, highlighted that many Chula science graduates pursue postgraduate studies abroad with scholarships, and that the Faculty is actively developing student exchange programs, Double Degree Programs, and joint research activities, particularly in mathematics, computer science, and nanomaterials. They also introduced the new international undergraduate program in biotechnology (BBTech) and proposed developing internship opportunities at Kanazawa University.
From the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Unnop Jaisamrarn, MD, MHS, Senior Executive Advisor for International Affairs, shared that the Faculty welcomes over 200 international students annually, offers training in clinical science, and has launched CU MEDi, a new four-year curriculum for international undergraduates. He emphasized the importance of strengthening academic collaboration through joint seminars, workshops, and global health initiatives, noting the alignment with Kanazawa University’s expertise in the life sciences and global health.
At the meeting, Kanazawa University expressed interest in initiating a summer school in partnership with Chulalongkorn University.
