[Call for Proposals] Global Hubs Research Seed Grants
Cornell and Chula faculty are invited to apply for competitive $5,000 Global Hubs Research Seed Grants to initiate or expand collaborative research with select Global Hubs partner universities. Seed grants provide early-stage support for projects with strong potential to generate long-term international partnerships and attract external funding.
These international research exploration seed grants will help support early-stage research projects or capacity-building efforts to create and sustain long-term collaborations and secure extramural funding.
We invite proposals from researchers in all disciplines at Chula and Cornell. In this round, up to twenty (20) proposals will be funded (each with two Principal Investigators: one from Cornell and one from Chula. Each successful proposal may receive up to the equivalent of $5,000 USD from Chulalongkorn University, for a total of $10,000 USD.Each Institution’s contributions will be used exclusively to fund its own researcher and their research expenses and will not be comingled. The award of any funds from either Institution will be subject, in each case, to the internal processes and procedures of such Institution.
The Global Hubs Research Seed Grants are open to principal investigators from Cornell and Chula in all academic fields. Funded projects are expected to:
- Establish new research partnerships through meetings, workshops, or pilot studies; or
- Strengthen existing collaborations by exploring new directions or enhancing research capacity;
- Produce tangible outcomes, including at least one joint publication and one application for external grant funding.

Award
$5,000 USD from Cornell Global Hub and $5,000 USD from Chulalongkorn University, for a total of $10,000 USD.

All fields (Projects must be structured to comply with applicable U.S. and partner country regulations.)
Eligibility criteria
- Applicants must meet Cornell’s PI eligibility criteria. Graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, and research staff may participate but cannot serve as PIs.
- Cornell (Ithaca), Cornell Tech, and Cornell AgriTech faculty are eligible to apply. WCM faculty are not eligible to apply as PIs in this grant cycle.
- Projects must include collaboration with at least one colleague at an eligible Global Hubs partner university
