Call for Applications: Franco–Thai Scholarship Program 2025
The Embassy of France in Thailand is pleased to announce the Franco–Thai Scholarship Program, supporting talented Thai students (under 35 years old) who wish to pursue Master’s or PhD studies in France.
Open to all fields of study, this highly selective program aims to strengthen academic and research collaboration between France and Thailand.
🎓 Scholarship Duration
- Master’s Degree: 1–2 years
- PhD: 3 years
For joint supervision, funding applies only to periods spent in France.
Scholarship will be suspended for coursework taking place outside France.
🎁 Types of Scholarships
1. Full Scholarship
Includes:
- Monthly allowance
- Roundtrip airfare
- Social protection
- Exclusive benefits for French government scholarship holders
2. Social Protection Scholarship (Bourse de Couverture Sociale)
Provides:
- Social protection in France
- Exemption from visa fees, CVEC fees, and some public university tuition fees
- The “Bourse de Couverture Sociale” can only be granted if a cost-sharing agreement insures a monthly allowance to the scholar, since it will not be provided by the Franco-Thai program for this type of scholarship.
💼 Cost-Sharing Encouraged
Applicants—especially PhD candidates—are strongly encouraged to seek additional funding from:
- Home or host universities
- Research institutes
- Private-sector partners
Some doctoral schools require income above the scholarship allowance. Applicants must coordinate with their French laboratories or doctoral schools to secure necessary support.
💰 Tuition Fees
- The Franco–Thai Scholarship does not cover tuition fees.
- Tuition fees may be waived for:
- Master’s programs taught in French at public universities
- All PhD programs (subject to institution’s policy)
Applicants must verify tuition fees for their chosen program.
📝 Selection Criteria
The committee evaluates:
- Academic excellence and professional achievements
- Quality, relevance, and feasibility of the study or research plan
- Strength of motivation and alignment with career goals
- Adequate French or English proficiency for the selected program
- Additional funding secured to support the project
- For PhD: Preference for joint supervision with strong commitment from Thai and French supervisors
