Hosei University Intensive Japanese Language and Culture Program – Summer 2026

Hosei University, Tokyo, Japan, invites undergraduate and graduate students to participate in the Intensive Japanese Language and Culture Program – Summer 2026, scheduled from 22 June to 3 July 2026.

The program aims to introduce participants to the Japanese language, society, and culture through classroom study and cultural activities. Students will study Japanese while engaging in cultural experiences and field studies. Participants will also interact with regular students from Hosei University, who will provide support during language learning sessions and join various program activities.

Program Details

  • Duration: 22 June – 3 July 2026
  • Number of participants: 40 students (first-come, first-served basis; a lottery may be held if applications exceed the limit)
  • Eligibility: Undergraduate and graduate students. Students with no prior Japanese language background may apply.

Program Components

  • Japanese language classes (Monday to Friday): 90 minutes × 18 sessions
  • Japanese cultural experiences and field studies: 90 minutes × 12 sessions
  • Interaction and exchange activities with Hosei University students

Program Fee

The program fee is JPY 170,000, which includes accommodation and field trip expenses. Airfare, meals, local transportation, personal expenses, and overseas health insurance are not included.

Scholarship Opportunity

This program has been selected for a scholarship supported by the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO). Participants who meet the scholarship conditions may receive financial support of JPY 80,000. Applicants must have a GPA of at least 2.30 on a 3.0 scale in the academic year prior to the application, based on JASSO’s GPA calculation. If the number of qualified applicants exceeds the available slots, selection will be based on GPA.
