Global Summit of Women: Women on Boards and Workplace Diversity in Asia-Pacific
Corporate Women Directors International (CWDI) released its 2020 Report on Women Board Directors in the Asia-Pacific Region at a virtual event taking place from 10:00 am – 11:00 am in Hong Kong and Malaysia (GMT +8) / 11 am – 12 noon in Seoul and Tokyo / 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. in Bangkok / 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. in Sydney. This free, one-hour online event featured the release of information on the status of women board directors in 20 economies in the region followed by two stellar panels of corporate governance experts and CEOs.
Providing reaction to the report along with strategies for increasing women on boards in the Asia-Pacific region was: Kesara Manchusree, Chair, Thailand Securities Depository Co., Ltd, and Former CEO, Stock Exchange of Thailand; Kathy Matsui, Vice Chair and Chief Japan Equity Strategist, Goldman Sachs; and Zarinah Anwar, Former Chair, Securities Commission Malaysia; Founder of 30 Percent Club Malaysia.
They were followed by a panel of Male CEOs: Kishore Ponnavolu, President, MetLife Asia and Jim Falteisek, Managing Director, 3M Korea, and Vice President, 3M Asia Corporate Affairs, who shared their views on the status of women in the boardroom in Asia along with how they were striving to increase gender equality and diversity in their workforce. Both panels were moderated by Managing Director of FT Asia Pacific Angela Mackay.
