The European Research Council (ERC): Advanced Grants

The Advanced Grants aim to encourage the highest quality research in Europe and to support a leading principal investigator who wants long-term funding to pursue a ground-breaking, high-risk project from all scientific fields. These grants are awarded through open competition to projects headed by active researchers who are working or moving to work in Europe, while also attracting talented researchers from all over the world.

Duration: 5 years

Eligibility       
1. Principal Investigator: 

  • may be of any age and nationality and may reside in any country in the world at the time of the application.
  • is expected to be active researchers who have a track-record of significant research achievements in the last 10 years. 

2. Host Institution (HI) must either be established in an EU Member State or Associated Country.
Note: The PI does not need to be employed by Host Institute at the time when the proposal is submitted. However, the application must be submitted by a single PI in conjunction with and on behalf of their HI, and the HI must engage and host the PI for at least the duration of the project.

3. No specific eligibility criteria with respect to the academic requirements are foreseen.
