British Council Scholarships for Women in STEM: Early Academic Fellowships
The second year of the “British Council scholarships for women in STEM” is open now! This scholarship programme, partnering with 26 UK universities, aims to increase opportunities in STEM for girls and women from the Americas, South Asia, South East Asia, Egypt, Turkey and Ukraine. This scholarship programme is looking for women with a background in STEM, who can demonstrate their need for financial support and who wish to inspire future generations of women to pursue careers in STEM.

Benefit: The scholarships will cover
- full tuition fees,
- monthly stipends,
- travel costs,
- visa and health coverage fees,
- special support for mother and
- English language support.
Theme: Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)
Note: The eligible areas/programmes/courses depends on each UK university partner.
Duration: The academic year from September/October 2022 – 2023
Eligible Countries: Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam
Eligibility:
To be eligible for the British Council Scholarships for Women in STEM – Early Academic Fellowship Programme, you must:
- Be a woman, or identify as a woman.
- Be a passport holder and permanent resident of one of the eligible countries.
- Have completed all components of PhD in the last 12 months in a university based in one of the eligible countries participating in this scheme.
- Have an acceptance letter from one of the Academic Supervisors* to undergo a fellowship programme in one of the areas proposed by the institutions participating in one of the following UK university partners assigned for each region, before your application to British Council Scholarships for Women in STEM can be considered. This letter of support must be provided with the application materials and detail the training and support available to the fellow as well as scientific fit with the hosting research group.

- Have not previously studied at degree level or higher in the UK or lived recently in the UK.
- Meet the English language requirement of the UK university partner.
- Demonstrate case for financial support.
- Return to your country of citizenship for a minimum of two years after your scholarship award has ended.
