Meeting between the Representatives of Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) and Chulalongkorn University
On Monday, June 6th, 2022, Chulalongkorn University (Chula), represented by Prof. Dr. Bundhit Eua-arporn, President; Prof. Dr. Parichart Sthapitanonda, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Social Outreach; Prof. Dr. Kaywalee Chatdarong, DVM; Vice President for Strategic Planning, Innovation and Global Engagement; Asst. Prof. Dr. Voraprapa Nakavachara, Assistant to the President for Global Engagement; Dr. Ram Piyaket, Director of the Office of International Affairs and Global Network (OIA) and Ms. Michiko Yoshida, Director of the Global Networking and Engagement Division, OIA, had a meeting with the representatives of the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) led by Dr. Christopher Tremewan, APRU’s Secretary General and Mr. Sherman Cheng, Chief Financial Officer.
The APRU consists of leading universities from 19 Pacific Rim economies, namely Australia, Canada, Chile, China and Hong Kong SAR, Chinese Taipei, Colombia, Ecuador, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, the Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Thailand and the United States. During the meeting, both parties discussed the forthcoming joint organization of the APEC University Leaders’ Forum (AULF) in November 2022. The Forum aims to deliver the results of the Presidential Working Group (PWG) under a theme of “Preventing the Next Pandemic: a Global Strategy” to wide public audience during the period of the APEC Leader Summit Week and the APEC CEO Summit from November 15th to 17th, 2022.
After the meeting, Dr. Tremewan and Mr. Cheng had a short visit to the Maha Chulalongkorn Building, the first building on the Chulalongkorn University campus, and it is one of the candidate venues for the AULF 2022 which will be co-hosted by Chula and the APRU.
