President Bundhit Participating in the APRU 26th Annual Presidents’ Meeting, Hosted by Nanyang Technological University from July 6th -9th, 2022
From July 6th -9th, 2022, Prof.Dr. Bundhit Eua-arporn, President of Chulalongkorn University, together with Asst. Prof. Dr. Voraprapa Nakavachara, Assistant Vice President for Global Engagement and Dr. Ram Piyaket, Director of the Office of International Affairs and Global Network, participated in the three-day APRU Annual Presidents’ Meeting (APRU APM) on “Reconnecting in a Sustainable World,” which was organized at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. This APRU APM was the first in-person meeting since 2019 and it was attended by more than 100 university presidents and senior university delegates. The meeting was concluded with the commitment by the university presidents that all the APRU members would share all resources in terms of research, innovation, and knowledge to help create sustainable society and to prepare for future challenges.
On this occasion, President Bundhit Eua-arporn shared with the APRU Presidential Working Group and all participants during the “Preventing the Next Pandemic Session” that in November 2022, Chula will co-organize with the APRU a major international symposium. The time of this event will overlap with the APEC Leaders’ Week and the APEC CEO Summit. He emphasized that this forum will help universities across the globe to build international cooperation, develop new knowledge on challenges that the region is facing and eventually it should contribute to social and economic advancement of the region.
Apart from the symposium that Chula will co-organize with the APRU in November, President Bundhit also informed the participants of the APRU APM on the launch of the “APRU SDGs for Global Citizenship Program (APRU SDG4GC)”. Co-designed by six core-partner universities in collaboration with the United Nations (UN), this program aims to increase students’ awareness of global issues through learning about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and sharing SDG practices in diverse cultural and social contexts. Applications will be open in August 2022.
