Meeting with the representatives of the University of Edinburgh
On September 28th, 2022, the representatives of the Faculty of Medicine led by Prof. Unnop Jaisamrarn, M.D., MHS, Associate Dean for International Affairs, and Assoc. Prof. Naricha Chirakalwasan, M.D., Assistant Dean for International Affairs, and Dr. Ram Piyaket, Director of the Office of International Affairs and Global Network (OIA) and Ms. Sukalin Wanakasemsan, Director of the Division of Academic Affairs, OIA welcomed the representatives of the University of Edinburgh — Prof. David Weller, Ph.D., Dean, International, Southeast Asia & Australasia, Co-Director, Centre for Population Health Sciences, and Head of Family Medicine, and Ms. Audrey Kon, Director, Southeast Asia & Australasia, Edinburgh Global (Singapore Branch).
Both sides presented an overview of the universities and their previous collaboration with international partners. They also shared their proposal for collaboration, ranging from the traditional student/staff mobility, transnational education, clinical placement to their collaborative pursuit of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. After that, the meeting discussed potential academic cooperation and their intention to enter into a university-wide general agreement. In this regard, Prof. Weller also informed Chula about the Turing Scheme, an UK’s Erasmus+ version, which will facilitate student mobility in the future.
