Tohoku University and Chulalongkorn University Discussing Future Collaborations

On May 19th, 2025, President Wilert Puriwat welcomed the Tohoku University delegation, led by Professor Teiji Tominaka, M.D., President of Tohoku University, Japan, at the Reception Room on the 2nd floor of Chamchuri 4 Building. The meeting was also attended by Vice Presidents of Chulalongkorn University, along with the Deans of the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Engineering. Following the meeting, the delegation visited the Faculty of Medicine.
During the discussions, President Tominaka shared that Tohoku University had been selected as the first university in Japan to receive research funding from the Japanese government under the Universities for International Research Excellence (UIRE) program. This initiative aims to promote international research collaboration, facilitating deeper cooperation between the two universities.
The meeting focused on several key areas for future collaboration: 1) a mutual commitment to maintain and expand existing academic cooperation; 2) support for the development of joint research projects; and 3) connecting startup companies from both universities to encourage collaborative innovation.
This visit marks another step toward strengthening the long-standing relationship between Chulalongkorn University and Tohoku University, with the goal of creating impactful academic and research partnerships on a global scale.
