Chulalongkorn University Welcomes Shantou Delegation to Discuss Collaborative Initiatives
On July 7, 2025, Chulalongkorn University had the honor of welcoming a delegation from Shantou University, led by Mr. Tang Rui, Secretary of the Party Committee of Shantou University. The delegation was received by Professor Rungsun Rerknimitr, M.D., Assistant to the President for Innovation at Chulalongkorn University; Associate Professor Pasuree Luesakul, Ph.D., Deputy Dean for International Affairs, Faculty of Arts; and Dr. Wuttichai Reainthippayasakul, Deputy Dean, Faculty of Engineering.
The Shantou University delegation included Professor Zhang Yueling, Dean of the College of Science and Director of the Personnel Office, and Dr. Gao Jian, Dean of the School of International Education and Director of the International Office. The meeting took place at the Meeting Room on the 18th Floor of the Chaloem Rajakumari 60 Building.
On this occasion, the delegation from Shantou University has provided an overview of their university, expressing keen interest in initiating academic collaborations and student mobility with Chulalongkorn University in a variety of disciplines, particularly in the fields of language and science.
Dr. Gao Jian, Dean of the School of International Education and Director of the International Office has highlighted Shantou University’s comprehensive course of Chinese language and conveyed strong interest in developing collaborative degree-program and courses. Key areas of focus include short courses at student exchange program in partnership with the Center for Thai as a Foreign Language, the Chinese Section, and the Thai Studies Center at Faculty of Arts.
In addition, Professor Zhang Yueling, Dean of the College of Science and Director of the Personnel Officer has expressed strong interest in exploring the joint-lab initiative at Faculty of Science of Chulalongkorn University.
The meeting marked the first milestone between the two universities in paving the way for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support future academic collaboration and mutual advancement. Following the meeting, the delegation joined a campus tour and visited the Chula Museum, led by the Office of International Affairs.
