Chulalongkorn University and The University of Western Australia Explore Academic Collaboration, Leveraging Mutual Strengths
On 9th July 2025, Assoc. Prof. Palanee Ammaranond, Ph.D., Vice President for International Affairs, hosted Mr. David Connell, Associate Director of Global Engagement, representative from the University of Western Australia,at the Meeting Room, 18th Floor Chaloem Rajakumari 60 Building. The meeting was also joined by Assoc. Prof. Sawekchai Tangaramvong, Ph.D., Deputy Dean in Academic, Faculty of Engineering; Asst. Prof. Chatr Panithipongwut Kowalski, Ph.D., Assistant Dean, Faculty of Science; and Ms. Pattarin Wirojchoochut, Education Manager, Trade and Investment Commission, Australian Embassy Bangkok.
During the meeting, Mr. Connell initiated a discussion on potential academic collaboration between the two universities, with a focus on joint degree programs, particularly in the fields of engineering and science. Both sides expressed strong interest in leveraging each institution’s strengths, for example, the University of Western Australia’s expertise in oceanic energy, and Chulalongkorn University’s interdisciplinary educational approach designed to address emerging trends and technologies through its Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Science. The discussion also marked the beginning of initiatives for student exchange and internship programs.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both universities committed to fostering academic collaboration and further exploring comprehensive opportunities for student exchange to maximize the mutual strengths.
