Chulalongkorn University and Kyoto University ASEAN Center Strengthen Strategic Partnerships and Collaborative Research Opportunities
On August 27th, 2025, Asst. Prof. Tewarit Sarachana, MT, Ph.D, Assistant to the President who was assigned by Assoc. Prof. Palanee Ammaranond, Ph.D., Vice President for International Affairs to welcome Prof. Eiji Nawata, Director of Kyoto University ASEAN Center at the Meeting Room, 18th Floor, Chaloem Rajakumari 60 Building. The guest was accompanied by Ms. Kanako Miyabayashi, Deputy Director of Kyoto University Center and Ms. Reina Yamagami.
During the meeting, both institutions exchanged updates on ongoing initiatives and engaged in constructive discussions to expand academic and research cooperation. Prof. Nawata highlighted several existing double-degree programs between Chulalongkorn University and Kyoto University in Engineering, Energy Science, and Public Health. To further enhance student mobility and research collaboration, Ms. Miyabayashi expressed the Center’s interest in joining Chulalongkorn University’s International Open House Week and in sending Ph.D. students to the Chulalongkorn Sustainable Environment Research Institute.
Asst. Prof. Tewarit underscored Chulalongkorn University’s readiness to welcome more international students from Kyoto University, introducing scholarship opportunities and strategic research funding while reaffirming the university’s bold initiative to become Thailand’s “University of AI.” He emphasized Chulalongkorn’s strong commitment to advancing AI-driven innovations as a catalyst for transforming higher education, strengthening international partnerships, and positioning the university as a leader in global collaboration.
This visit serves as an important step in further strengthening the long-standing collaboration between Chulalongkorn University and the Kyoto University ASEAN Center. Both institutions reaffirmed their shared commitment to academic excellence, innovative research, and advancing Chulalongkorn University’s International Growth Strategy, while contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 and SDG 17.
