Chulalongkorn University and The University of Osaka Strengthening Ties Through Academic Collaboration

On September 8th, 2025, Chulalongkorn University and The University of Osaka (UOsaka) held discussions to enhance research collaboration, student mobility, and joint academic programs at Meeting Room 1801, 18th Floor, Chaloem Rajakumari 60 Building.
Asst. Prof. Tewarit Sarachana, Ph.D., Assistant to the President for International Affairs and Global Network, warmly welcomed the University of Osaka (UOsaka) delegation: Specially Appointed Asst. Prof. Sathida Kanjamapornkul and Specially Appointed Asst. Prof. Lisa Nakahara. On this occasion, Assoc. Prof. Ariunaa Enkhtur, Ph.D., Director of the UOsaka Global Admissions Support Office attended the meeting via Zoom. The meeting was also joined by Chulalongkorn University’s faculty members who are alumni of the University of Osaka from the Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Engineering, and the Petroleum and Petrochemical College.

Asst. Prof. Tewarit highlighted Chula’s co-seed-fund research initiatives with leading international partner universities and proposed collaboration with the University of Osaka in the form of joint research and publications between faculty members of both universities. He also expressed interest in collaborating with the University of Osaka to establish Summer School programs, enabling Japanese and Thai students to foster academic and cultural exchange. In this regard, the Chulalongkorn University delegates emphasized the importance of supporting students’ financial well-being, research opportunities, and short-term study programs, alongside close cooperation with the University of Osaka alumni.
The University of Osaka introduced its new initiative, the ‘UOsaka ASEAN Campus,’ which includes the Osaka University International Certificate Program (OUICP) and OUICP-S, combining online learning with study abroad experiences. These programs welcome students from partner universities in the UOsaka ASEAN Campus Program for short-term study abroad opportunities at the University of Osaka. Specially Appointed Asst. Prof. Sathida highlighted collaborative research activities between Chulalongkorn University and the University of Osaka and expressed interest in furthering joint research and student exchange initiatives.
Both universities aim to strengthen research partnerships, expand student mobility, promote joint degree programs, and build strong alumni networks, fostering long-term international engagement and collaboration.
