Introduction to UCAS
University of Chinese Academy of Sciences(UCAS)is an innovative university that integrates scientific research and education, focuses mainly on graduate education, and features outstanding undergraduate education. Its predecessor was the Graduate University of Chinese Academy of Sciences established in 1978. Being the largest graduate education institution in China, UCAS has about 70,000 ongoing students including about 2,000 international students from 100 countries.
International Reputation
UCAS ranked 5th globally among the leading research institutions in the latest list released by Nature Index. According to the Global University Ranking by Essential Science Indicator (ESI) in September 2025, UCAS ranked No. 1 in China and No. 10 worldwide. According to the U.S. News 2025-2026 Best Global Universities Rankings, UCAS is ranked 54th globally.
Introduction to the Programs
The master’s and doctoral degree programs enroll international students from all over the world to pursue master’s or PhD education at UCAS with majors ranging from 12 disciplines (philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, management, and interdisciplinary science.
The basic study period is commonly 3 years for master’s degree students and 3-4 years for doctoral students. Certificates of graduation and degrees will be awarded to those who have met the requirements of graduation and degree conferment.
General Requirement
(1) Non-Chinese citizens who abide by China’s laws and decrees, as well as UCAS’s rules and regulations.
(2) Being of good character and in good health without any infectious diseases or physical/mental disease that may affect the normal study.
(3) Applicants for master’s programs must possess a degree or academic qualification equivalent to a Chinese bachelor’s degree; applicants for doctoral programs must possess a degree or academic qualification equivalent to a Chinese master’s degree.
(4) English proficiency is required. For Chinese-instructed programs, the applicant’s Chinese proficiency shall reach at least HSK Level 5 with no less than 180 scores.
Application Deadline
October 15th, 2025–April 15th, 2026. For those who apply to UCAS for scholarship, please submit application before January 31st, 2026.
Applicants should submit their applications through the online application system (https://is.ucas.ac.cn/) as early as possible within the application period.

Scholarship Programs of UCAS
● Chinese Government Scholarship
The Chinese Government Scholarship includes Bilateral Program, China-EU Student Exchange Program, China-ASEAN University Network Scholarship Program, and other programs supporting international students to pursue graduate degrees in China. The scholarship covers tuition fees, application fees, living allowance, basic on-campus accommodation, and medical insurance.

● CAS-ANSO Scholarship
The CAS-ANSO Scholarship (Degree Program) offers full scholarship for outstanding students from all over the world to pursue postgraduate education at UCAS. It covers tuition waiver, application fee waiver, monthly stipend, international travel allowance/reimbursement from awardee’s home country to China (one trip per awarded candidate), One-time visa/residence permit allowance and medical insurance.

The UCAS Scholarship for International Students offers full and partial scholarship for international students to pursue postgraduate education at UCAS.
