European Research Council (ERC): Advanced Grant

ERC Work Programme under the Horizon Europe Framework Programme has announced the call for application, ERC Advanced Grant. The ERC Advanced Grant aims to support and attract excellent Principal Investigators of any nationality who intend to conduct their research activity in any EU Member State or Associated Country. Principal Investigators must demonstrate the ground-breaking nature, ambition and feasibility of their scientific proposal.

Eligibility:
1. Principal Investigators (PIs):
- may be of any age and nationality and may reside in any country in the world at the time of the application.
- are expected to be active researchers who have a track-record of significant research achievements in the last 10 years.
Note: All Principal Investigators funded through an ERC Advanced Grant must spend a minimum of 50% of their working time in an EU Member State or Associated Country and a minimum of 30% of their working time on the ERC project.
2. No specific eligibility criteria with respect to the academic requirements are foreseen.
3. The Host Institution (Applicant Legal Entity):
- must engage and host the Principal Investigator for at least the duration of the project, as defined in the grant agreement.
- must either be established in an EU Member State or Associated Country as a legal entity created under national law, or it may be an international European research organisation (such as CERN, EMBL, etc.), the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) or any other entity created under EU law.
Note: PI does not necessarily need to be working at the Host Institution at the time when the proposal is submitted.
4. ERC grants support projects carried out by an individual researcher who can employ researchers of any nationality as team members. It is also possible to have one or more team members located in a non-European country.
