UK-ASEAN Institutional Links Early Career Researchers (ILECR) Scheme
The ILECR Scheme, a part of the Going Global Partnerships programme, is designed to provide seed funding to senior researchers from higher education institutions in the UK and partner countries – Brunei, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand- to lead a team of early career researchers for 12 months to work on selected areas aligning to the Indo-Pacific Tilt and Sustainable Development Goals.

Eligibility:
Proposals must fulfil the following criteria to be eligible for funding under this Programme:
- Each proposal must be matched with cash and in-kind contribution from the partner country institution and associated partners; however, the amount of cash matching will be justified by the applicants.
- Each proposal must have one Principal Applicant from the UK and one Principal Applicant from the partner country.
- All Principal Applicants must be Leading Researchers or Established as defined by the European Commission (please refer to the European Framework for Research Careers document on the Euraxess website).
- Individuals may only act as Principal Applicants on one application. Multiple applications from the same individual will not be accepted.
- Principal Applicants must be employed by one of the following types of organisations and have a contract that extends beyond the period of the grant:
- a not-for-profit higher education institution,
- a UK higher education institution, and
- a not-for-profit research organization.
- Participation of Early Career Researchers (ECRs) from the UK and partner country including their roles in the project, expected milestones and achievements must be planned and identified by the Principal Applicants.
- The ECRs must have a PhD or equivalent research experience.
